Clay Modelling – Creativity in action by Senior KG!
On 8th July 2025, the classrooms of Standard Public School transformed into lively studios as our Senior KG students enthusiastically participated in the much-loved Clay Modelling Competition. The event was filled with color, creativity, and cheerful energy as the little hands got busy shaping their ideas into tangible forms.
Clay modelling is often seen as a fun pastime, but in reality, it is a powerful learning activity that supports a child’s overall development. By rolling, pinching, and shaping the clay, children enhance their fine motor skills, strengthen their hand-eye coordination, and build the finger dexterity essential for writing and other academic tasks. Beyond physical development, the process also promotes focus, patience, and problem-solving, as each child works carefully to bring their vision to life.
As the competition began, tiny fingers eagerly explored the colorful clay, turning soft lumps into delightful creations—flowers, butterflies, honeybees, bugs, and other imaginative figures. Each model was unique, reflecting not just creativity but also the individuality and imagination of the young artists. The classrooms were buzzing with excitement, laughter, and the occasional “Look what I made!” as children proudly showed their work to teachers and friends.
One of the most heartwarming sights of the day was the look of pride and accomplishment on each child’s face after completing their masterpiece. These small moments of success play an important role in building self-confidence and a sense of achievement, both of which are crucial for early learning.
Events like the Clay Modelling Competition go beyond art—they allow children to experiment, express themselves, and discover the joy of creating something with their own hands. In a world where structured academics often take center stage, such hands-on experiences are invaluable in nurturing imagination and emotional well-being.
