Standard Public School Observes Paper Bag Day
On July 12, 2024, Standard Public School joined the global initiative to combat plastic pollution by celebrating International Plastic Bag Free Day. This observance aimed to raise awareness among students about the environmental hazards associated with the use of plastic bags and to promote sustainable alternatives.
The celebration featured a range of student-led activities designed to engage learners of different age groups. Students in grades 5 and 6 took a hands-on approach to the day’s theme by crafting paper bags. This practical exercise not only taught them a valuable skill but also demonstrated an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags, encouraging them to consider more sustainable choices in their daily lives.
Meanwhile, older students contributed to the event by delivering informative speeches about the harmful effects of plastic bags on the environment. These presentations helped to educate their peers about the long-lasting impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. By entrusting students with the task of sharing this crucial information, the school fostered a sense of environmental responsibility and empowered students to become advocates for change.
Although the celebration was brief, it proved to be highly informative and impactful. The combination of practical activities and educational presentations created a well-rounded learning experience for all participants. By observing International Plastic Bag Free Day, Standard Public School demonstrated its commitment to environmental education and its role in nurturing environmentally conscious citizens for the future.
